Another promising netter Khim Iglupas advanced to the girls’ singles second round of the Asian B1 ITF Pune Open Junior Tennis Championship being held at the Balewadi Sports Complex in Pune, India.

The 17-year-old Iglupas blanked Indian wild card Shrivalli Rashmikaa Bhamdipaty, 6-0, 6-0, to arrange a second-round meeting with fourth seed Du Zhima of China, a 6-2, 6-1 winner over Indian Sathwika Sama.

Iglupas worked hand in hand with Japanese Himari Sato in beating India’s Zeel Desai and Nidhi Surapaneni, 2-6, 6-4, 13-11, in the tournament sanctioned by the International Tennis Federation.

Iglupas and Sato will be meeting second seeds Mayuka Aikawa of Japan and Pranjala Yadlapalli of India in the quarterfinals.


Aikawa and Yadlapalli ousted Indians Sathwika Sama and Mihika Yadav in the other first-round match, 6-4, 6-4.

In boys’ doubles, Alberto Lim Jr. and Indian partner Nikshep Ballekere Ravinkumar also scored an easy 6-2, 6-2 win over Christian Cummings of India and Kairi Inoue of Japan to reach the quarterfinal stage.

They will be facing South Korea’s Seon Yong Han and Hong Kong’s Ching Lam, who survived the brave stand of Indian duo Megh Bhargav Patel and Aditya Vashit 3-6, 7-6 (4) 10-6.

Lim resumes his campaign in singles as he battles Indian Adil Kalyanpur in the second round.
