PH powerlifters bag 10 medals in World Junior and Sub-Junior Championships

The national junior powerlifting team copped 10 medals – five silvers and five bronzes – in the prestigious 2015 World Junior and Sub-Junior Powerlifting Championships held in Prague, Czech Republic. Jeremy Reign Bautista, a first-timer in a world meet, grabbed three silver medals in record-breaking fashions in the Women’s Sub-Junior 47-kilogram event. She also added a bronze in the Bench Press (60 kgs.) event. Playing in the Women’s Junior 47-kg. category, Jasmine Martin chipped in one silver in Dead Lift (140 kgs.) while Regie Ramirez, who campaigned in the Men’s Junior 59-kg. class secured a silver in Dead Lift (247.5 kgs.). Asian champion Joan Masangkay claimed four bronzes in the Women’s Sub-Junior 43-kg. class. – Squat (112.5 kgs.), Bench Press (55 kgs.), Deadlift (110 kgs.) and Total (277.5 kgs.).
