• PH U14 drubs Timor Leste in AFC meet

The Philippine Under-14 National Football Team routed Timor Leste, 10-0, in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U14 Football Festival in the Balapan Stadium in Brunei Darussalam on Saturday.

After being winless in three games, the Filipinos went all out in their final game in the competition.

It was a one-sided affair from start to finish as young Filipino football stars Amir Amaikurut and Greg Naquines blazed through the defense of their foes scoring an impressive three goals each.

The Philippines displayed formidable defense foiling all of East Timor’s attacks.

Vin Dela Cruz, Jacob Maniti, Shemrei Marabillo and Chyle Miraflores contributed a goal each to the Philippines’ victory over East Timor.

With the win, the Philippines, with a record of one win and three losses, finished No.3 in Group A of the regional youth football tournament.

During their first game in the tournament, the Filipinos lost 1-3 to the Cambodians at the Berakas Stadium, Bandar Seri Begawan on Tuesday.

Dela Cruz scored the lone goal for the country in the 28th minute that gave the Philippines an early lead.

However, the resilient Cambodians bounced back in the second half through the two goals of Bunthoeun Bunnarong and a strike of Ry Leap Pheng.

Consequently, the Philippines absorbed back-to-back losses to Laos, 1-4, and Malaysia, 0-1, at the Balapan Stadium on Friday.

Jiannecel Molina scored the lone goal for the men of coach Chieffy Caligdong in their match against the Laotians.
