The Philippine men’s national football team was set to play in Group B of the men’s football tournament in the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games after the draw on Thursday in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The Philippines was grouped with 15-time SEA Games and reigning gold medalist Thailand and 2015 bronze medalist Vietnam.
Other nations in the group were Indonesia, Cambodia and Timor-Leste.
In the other grouping, host Malaysia is set to play with previous edition’s runner-up Myanmar, Brunei, Laos and Singapore.
Meanwhile, no draw was held in the women’s competition, as there were only five participating teams. Hence the national women’s football team will be pitted against 2013 winner Thailand and runner-up Vietnam along with Myanmar and Malaysia.
