Promising to deliver affordable quality health care to Filipinos, PhilhealthCare Inc. (PhilCare) recently forged partnership with BDO Insurance Brokers Inc. (BDOI) to make its Health Buddy Cards more accessible to consumers.
Under the agreement, BDOI paves the way for PhilCare’s Health Buddy Cards to be available at SM malls within Metro Manila.
Health Buddy Cards are PhilCare prepaid cards that cover an individual’s basic health maintenance requirements. It removes the hassles of monthly fees and underwriting approvals, which will allow the cardholder to focus on just keeping himself or herself healthy. For as low as P499 or P999, consumers can either choose to purchase either the Yearly Health Examination Service Card that provides basic annual physical examination package and discount privileges, or the more comprehensive card called WeCare Card, which offers medical consultations, discount offerings and personal accident insurance with income benefit.
“This partnership is another milestone for PhilCare. Step by step, we are delivering our commitment of making quality health care affordable to Filipinos. Now, having our Health Buddy Cards in SM prepaid kiosks makes the cards more accessible to consumers,” said Jaeger Tanco, PhilCare executive vice president and chief operating officer.
In a report in March this year, the Association of Health Maintenance Organizations of the Philippines said that there are only three million members for all its member-organizations.
“We want to encourage every Juan to make his health a priority. With the prepaid health cards now within their reach, we do hope that consumers will take action and make this priority a reality,” Tanco added.
Tracy Tan, senior vice president and general manager of BDOI, said that, “this partnership is a testament to our commitment of helping Filipinos achieve their goals. With the availability of the Health Buddy Cards in SM malls, we are one with PhilCare in encouraging Filipinos to make their health a part of their goals. We are once again empowering our patrons with the option and a route to secure their health.”
