The national tae kwon do poomsae team continued its impressive showing in international scene, winning four golds and three silvers this time in the 2014 World Tae kwon do Hanmadang Poomsae Championship held at the Kukkiwon Headquarters in Seoul, South Korea.
Veteran campaigner Juvenile Crisostomo and Jeordan Dominguez delivered the first two golds of the team as they ruled their respective individual events. Crisostomo topped the all-around breaking female category while Dominguez dominated the all-around breaking male division.
Rinna Babanto, Jo Ninobla and Nikki Oliva also contributed a gold medal when they reigned supreme in the senior mixed team.
Crisostomo and Dominguez joined forces with Jaylord Seridon, Joevanni Colega, Junior Reyes, Clement Tan McAvyngyr Alob, Bella Cesista and Ardee Landrito in winning the team event gold medal.
The silver medals were from Seridon (all-around breaking male), Alob and Clare Gascon (junior IV pair), and Tan and Nichole Maurin (junior 3 pair).
The team was mentored by world champion Jean Pierre Sabido.
Recently, the poomsae team won two golds, four silvers and two bronzes in the 2014 Asian Tae kwon do Poomsae Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, and a couple of bronzes in the World Tae kwon do University Championships in China.
They are now revving up for the 2014 Asian Games scheduled on September 19 to October 4 in South Korea and the prestigious World Championships on October 31 to November 3 in Mexico. EMIL C. NOGUERA
