The Philippine Dragon Boat Federation (PDBF) guns for medals in three events as the 4th Korea Open Busan International Dragon Boat Festival unfolds today at the Suyeong River, Apec Naru Park in Haendae, Busan in South Korea.
The Filipinos hope to deliver medals in the Small Boat 10-paddler 200-meter Premier Open, Small Boat 10-paddler 200m Premier Women and Small Boat 10-paddler 200m Premier Mixed.
They will be up against the region’s best teams including those from host South Korea, powerhouse China, Thailand, Indonesia, Myanmar, Singapore, Hong Kong, Macau, among others.
The PDBF is looking to continue its impressive run in international scene after winning medals in major tournaments recently including the prestigious 1st International Dragon Boat Federation World Cup in Fuzhou, China where they won two golds, one silver and one bronze.
Meanwhile, the Philippine Canoe-Kayak Federation will be vying for honors in the Singapore Canoe-Kayak Championship beginning on Saturday.
Seeing action in canoe event are Hermie Macaranas, Jairus Molina, Danny Funelas, Jonathan Ruz, Roselyn Esguerra, Chiva Abanilla, John Paul Selencio, Eucela Manatad and Rea Glore while the kayak squad is composed of Daniel Ortega, Kim Gabriel Borromeo, Michael Selencio, Alvin Generalo, Alex Generalo, Edward Galang and Edgar Galang.
