Philippines’ Banario takes on challenger in One FC

FILIPINO featherweight champion Honorio “The Rock” Banario will defend his title against Japanese Koji Oishi (23-9-10 win-loss-draw card) in One Fighting Championship (FC) Rise to Power tonight at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

“I’m not pressured but I think I must work hard and be aware of what he brings during fight,” Banario (8-1 record) told The Manila Times in an interview on Thursday.

There are four other Filipinos in the fight card.

Bantamweight Kevin “The Silencer” Belingon and Masakatsu Ueda will clash in the grand prix final for the interim bantamweight crown. Eduard “The Landslide” Folayang will go against Iranian wrestler Kamal Shalorus in a lightweight non-title bout. Rey Docyogen will collide against Yasuhiro Urushitani and Geje Eustaquio will fight Andrew Leone also in a non-title bout.

The other scheduled fights are former Ultimate Fighting Championship heavyweight champion American Tim Sylvia vs. Tony Johnson (heavyweight), Brazilian Bibiano Fernandes vs. Koetsu Okazaki (bantamweight) and Phil Baroni vs. Nobutatsu Suzuki (welterweight).
