THE Philippines dominated the FIBA Asia 3+3 Under-18 basketball Championships in Bangkok, Thailand on Friday night after winning over India as well as powerhouse teams China and Japan.
The four-man squad composed of former national youth team members Arvin Tolentino, Prince Rivero, Kobe Paras and Thirdy Ravena, defeated India 21-19, in the finals. The Filipinos also defeated Japan, 21-18, in the quarterfinals and upset China 22-18, in the semifinals.The FIBA 3×3 World Championships is a top-level 3×3 basketball national team tournament. Distinct from the “open” network of tournaments, players do not create their own representative team but are selected by the country’s national federations. There are currently two FIBA 3×3 World Championships tourneys: the FIBA 3×3 World Championships and the FIBA 3×3 U18 World Championships. Josef T. Ramos
