The Philippines remained at Tier 2 of the US State Department’s Trafficking in Persons (TIP) report because it continues to fail to fully comply with the minimum standards for the elimination of trafficking.
In a statement, the United States Embassy in Manila said the Philippines has maintained its standing from last year.
The release of the findings was announced by US State Secretary John Kerry.
The TIP is the most comprehensive report on governmental efforts worldwide to combat human trafficking.
