ILOILO CITY: The Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPOST) Area 6 has revived the production of post cards every Valentine’s month and made waves with its 10,000 love-themed post cards this February.
PHLPOST area director for Western Visayas Fabiolita P. Ferraris said that they revived the project within her area of coverage after PHLPOST stopped producing its own cards.
“I didn’t know that it would sell like hotcakes. When you use post cards it is usually a sort of sending message, it is entirely different from a letter,” she said.
Compared with those purchased in department stores, the cards customized by Area 6 is cheaper at PHP15 each plus PHP5 for the stamp. Buyers can also choose from the four designs that were made by the office.
Ferraris added that unlike with texting, recipients of the cards can keep them as mementos. It is also very different because receiving cards in this digital age is considered unexpected.
“Text messages have their own purposes; it is swift, it is fast. But this one is something you will keep on reading and you can see it completely and keep it for a long time,” she said.
With the successful revival of the project, Ferraris said they are contemplating on coming up with the same idea for other occasions.
“Maybe this time we are going to come up with designs applicable to other occasions like birthdays and anniversaries,” she said.
