SANMAN boxer Jake Bornea is now in London for his upcoming International Boxing Federation (IBF) inter-continental flyweight bout against Andrew Selby on November 18 at the Wemble Arena.
The World Boxing Organization (WBO) Asia Pacific Youth Flyweight champion Bornea, 21, is coming off a unanimous decision win against Renerio Azala last April.
“I will do everything just to bring home the belt to the Philippines,” said Bornea in an interview with The Manila Times on Wednesday.
“His condition is very good. Jake (Bornea) has prepared six weeks for this fight with Dexter Benatero at the Sanman boxing gym in General Santos City,” said Sanman Promotions CEO Jim Claude Mananquil.
Bornea holds a record of 11 wins (five by knockouts) and one loss while Selby is unbeaten in six fights.
Bornea lost via unanimous decision against Raymond Tabugon for the vacant WBC Asian Boxing Council Continental flyweight title on May 24, 2014.
Bornea bounced back by scoring five straight wins including a fourth round knockout victory against Richard Rosales on August 11, 2015 that made him a champion again.
Meanwhile, Selby is a 2012 London Olympian and a two-time European champion. Among his victims were Brett Fidoe, Jozsef Ajtai, and Haji Juma.
