Pinay booters dominate Malaysians in AFF opener

The Philippine women’s national football team opened its tour of duty on a high note after winning against Malaysia, 3-0, in Group B of the Asean Football Federation (AFF) women’s championship 2015 on Saturday at the Thong Nhat Stadium in Vietnam.

Malaysia’s overconfident attitude in the match-up worked in the favor of the Filipinas as they took it hard on the former’s defense in the early moments of the first half.

Jesse Shugg caught the first goal of the Philippine side, capitalizing on a strategically placed pass to find the back of the net in the 24th minute.

The exchange of blows continued for the greater portion of the game with the Filipinas continued dominance on the offensive end.

The lead of the Philippines was doubled to 2-0 in the 72nd minute as Joanna Houplin hit her mark off a dish by Shugg.

To cap off the successful debut of the new Filipina national football team, Houplin converted another goal during the 75th minute.

The Filipina booters are scheduled to face Myanmar today for their second game in the regional women’s football championship.
