THE Philippine women’s national volleyball team expressed confidence they can come up with a decent finish in the 2013 Asian Women’s Volleyball Championship scheduled on September 13 to 21 in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand.
Head coach Ernesto Pamilar said that despite most of the team had no international experience but they have the heart and the determination to finish 8th place from among 16 countries participating throughout Asian region.
”This is a tough tournament featuring the best teams from Asian region. But we will give our best to at least finish in the top 8 since it a requirement by the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) to be included in the forthcoming Southeast Asian Games in Myanmar,” said Pamilar.
They are bracketed along with heavyweights China, Iran and India, but skipper Angeli Tabaquero and spiker Aiza Maizo-Pontillas said they are ready and prepared to do the best for the country.
Pamilar said that they need to win at least twice in their group to advance into the winners’ bracket.
Other members of the team are Faye Guevara, Wenneth Eulalio, Michelle Datuin, Sandra de los Santos, Aiza Maizo-Pontillas, Honey Tubino, Joy Benito, Angeli Tabaquero, Pau Soriano, Rosemarie Vargas, Lizlee Ann Gata-Pantone, Angela Benting, May Macatuno, Jheck Dionela, Arianne Argarin, Chie Saet and Danika Gendrauli.
