Kenneth Chua earned a spot in the men’s open Finals Second Round of the 47th Singapore International Open 2014 on Friday at the Orchid Bowl-Orchid Country Club.
Chua scored 1,844 pinfalls on 224, 245, 215, 244, 245, 186, 248 and 237 to finish fifth in the Finals First Round of the tournament sanctioned by the Asian Bowling Federation.
The Top 16 players in the Finals First Round will advance to the Finals Second Round.
Not as lucky as Kevin Cu who wound up 23rd following a 1,707 low output (208, 169, 247, 247, 219, 216, 202 and 199).
Joining Chua in the Finals Second Round are early qualifiers teen sensation Enzo Hernandez and former world champion Biboy Rivera. Rivera and Hernandez automatically made it to the next round by virtue of their 1-2 finish in the qualifying round.
In the women’s open, Krizziah Tabora was still playing in the Finals First Round as of press time. Lara Posadas is the first qualifier in the second round after taking the No. 3 position in the qualifying round.
Liza del Rosario and Sheena Go also fell short in their respective games to join Liza Clutario, Rachelle Leon and Cecilia Yap in the sideline.
The Philippines has so far won one silver courtesy of Bea Hernandez (youth girls’ under-18 event).
