• Pinoy keglers struggle in QubicaAMF World Cup


    Veteran campaigner Benshir Layoso dropped to fourth spot after the second block of the 49th QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup men’s qualifying round being held at the Sibiryak center in Krasnoyarsk, Russia.

    Layoso, 44, had 262, 228, 256, 245, 239 and 207 in the second block for a total score of 2,916 pins. He registered 1,479 pins (246, 228, 279, 277, 244 and 205) in the first block.

    Sweden’s Peter Hellstrom is still on top with 3,061 pins while former fourth placer Bodo Konieczny of Germany climbed to second with 2,949, leaving William Ching of Venezuela in third with 2,932.

    Belgian Mats Maggi is in fifth with 2,901 followed by Vincent Cayez of France (2,890), Christopher Sloan of Ireland (2,884), Alexei Parshukov of Russia (2,882), Or Oviram of Israel (2,870) and Humberto Vazquez of Mexico (2,851).

    In the women’s division, Mades Arles submitted 1,370 pins on 256, 259, 205, 211, 223 and 216 showing to take the sixth spot after the first block.

    Canadian Caroline Lagrange grab¬bed the top position with 1,510 pins followed by Luminita Farkas Bucin of Romania (1,412), Danielle McEwan of the United States (1,400), Cherie Tan of Singapore (1,389) and Aumi Guerra of Dominican Republic (1,374).

    After the 24-game, four-block qualifying round, the Top 24 in the men’s and women’s divisions will advance to the next round.
