Pinoy Lausa to make debut in UFC Melbourne

Filipino fighter Jenel “The Demolition Man” Lausa will make his debut in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) against Zhikui “The Conqueror” Yao of China in UFC Fight Night Melbourne: Rockhold vs Jacare 2 on November 26 at the Etihad Stadium in Melbourne, Australia.

Lausa was to make his UFC debut in Fight Night Manila, originally scheduled today but the event was cancelled after BJ Penn suffered a rib injury during training.

Lausa and Zhikui will be battling in a three-round flyweight bout.

The Iloilo native Lausa is coming off a four-bout winning streak and holds a 6-2 win-loss record while Zhikui has a 2-4 slate.

Lausa will pit his striking prowess against Zhikui’s aggressive wrestling skills.

The UFC Fight Night Melbourne will be bannered by the middleweight rematch between former foes American Luke Rockhold and Brazilian Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza.

Souza has a 23-4 card while former UFC middleweight champion Rockhold has a 15-3 record.

Meanwhile, those who bought UFC Fight Night Manila tickets are allowed to seek refunds at the point of purchase.
