• Pinoy muay thai fighters fall in Incheon


    All five Filipino muay thai fighters lost in their respective weight classes in the 4th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games 2013 muay thai competitions being held at the Dowon Gymnasium in Incheon, South Korea.

    Phillip Delarmino beat Iyas Mussin of Kazakhstan in the first round but succumbed to Bouaphan Phankeo of Laos in the men’s -54-kg. quarterfinals so was Jay Harold Gregorio, who defeated Delhi Harish of Independent Olympic Athletes before losing to Masoud Minaei of Iran in the men’s -67-kg. quarterfinals.

    Jonathan Polosan bowed to Chin Ngai Chung of Hong Kong in the first round of the men’s -63.5-kg. while Preciosa Ocaya (women’s -51-kg.) and Myra Adin (women’s -54-kg.) lost to Thailand bets Ruchira Wongsriwo and Ratchadaphon Wihantamma, respectively.

    In chess, Woman International Master (WIM) Janelle Mae Frayna blasted Woman FIDE Master Uuganbayar Lkhamsuren of Mongolia in the third round to raise her score to 2.5 points in the women’s standard event.

    She is now tied for fifth place with Woman Grandmaster (GM) Nafisa Muminova of Uzbekistan and WIM Sarasadat Khademalsharieh of Iran.

    GMs Hou Yifan and Zhao Xue of China, IM Pham Le Thao Nguyen of Vietnam and WIM Hejazipour Mitra of Iran are leading with three points each.

    In the men’s division, GM Oliver Barbosa lost to GM Al Medaihki Mohd Ahmed of Qatar while GM Mark Paragua drew with GM Susanto Megaranto of Indonesia in their third-round matches.

    Barbosa and Paragua are holding two points each.
