Pinoy rowers bag 11 medals in ICF World Championships

The national dragon boat team bagged a total of five golds, three silvers and three bronze medals in the International Canoe Federation (ICF) Dragon Boat World Championships held in Poznan, Poland.

The Filipino paddlers topped the 20-seater Seniors Men 200-meter (40.77 seconds) beating Russia (42.12) and Hungary (44.11) and the 10-seater Junior Men 200m (50.97), defeating Russia (52.93) and Canada (53.93).

They also dominated the 10-seater Seniors Mixed 200m in 51.08, clobbering Russian (51.23) and Poland (53.28).

The other gold medals were the 10-seater Seniors Men 200m (49.01) and 10-seater Juniors Men 500m (2:16.79) events.

The silver medals were from 20-seater Seniors Men 500m event, 10-seater Seniors Men 500m and 10-seater Seniors Mixed 500m while the bronzes were from 10-seater Juniors Men 2,000m Pursuit, 20-seater Seniors Men 2,000m Pursuit and 10-seater Seniors Men 2,000m Pursuit.

The team is under the tutelage of by Philippine Canoe-Kayak Federation head coach Len Len Escollante.
