    International Master (IM) Jan Emmanuel Garcia and untitled Alcon John Datu are sharing the second position with five points each in the Open Under-20 division standard event of the 2013 Asean Age Group Chess Championships on Wednesday in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

    Garcia outplayed FIDE Master (FM) Mohamad Satibi of Indonesia while Datu outclassed Mohammad Nubairshah Shaikh of India in their respective seventh-round matches.

    Vietnamese FM Nguyen Van Hai is still leading with six points. He split the point with Filipino FM Haridas Pascua in the seventh round. Pascua, however, fell to solo fourth with four points.

    In the eighth round scheduled on Wednesday night, Garcia battles FM Bilguun Sumiya of Mongolia while Datu tackles Tan Weiliang of Singapore, and Pascua will be meeting Satibi.

    In the girls’ 20-under category, Woman FM (WFM) Marie Antoinette San Diego is occupying the solo third with 4.5 points behind leader Woman IM (WIM) Hoang Thi Nhu of Vietnam with 5.5 points and running-second WIM Vo Thi Kim Phung also of Vietnam with five points.

    Untitled Filipina Janelle Mae Frayna dropped to fourth with four points along with WFM Karenza Dita of Indonesia and Doan Thi Van Anh of Veitnam while Filipina Jan Jodilyn Fronda and Indian Tejaswini are sharing the seventh spot with 3.5 points apiece.
