“It isn’t easy to keep your cool all the time but being in this business all these years has taught me to choose my battles. I wouldn’t let issues get to me or my family,” Piolo related at a small press huddle for his latest movie The Breakup Playlist under Star Cinema. “I surround myself with people that I love and do things that I love to keep myself happy.”

Ever on top of his game, Piolo has just won Movie Actor of the Year at the 31st PMPC Star Awards, and Guillermo Memorial Mendoza Award for Movie Box Office King, for his 2014 rom-com flick Starting Over Again with Toni Gonzaga. He also received a trophy for Best Performance by an Actor for Hawak Kamay at Gawad Tanglaw.

“My heart so full that I’m about to burst knowing how blessed I am. I just want to thank all my supporters who still believe in me. I’ll be forever grateful for all your love and support,” he said with sincerity.

Yet again, Piolo is knocking on the doors of his fans across the country as The Breakup Playlist opens today. Besides sharing the big screen with Box Office Queen Sarah Geronimo, the actor is still on a high from shooting the movie because it allowed him to do two of the things he loves most as a artist.

“I get to act and I also get to sing,” he happily acknowledged.

Piolo portrays rock musician in the movie who falls in love with an aspiring young artist in Sarah’s character Trixie. He vows that the movie offers a fresh as far as dramatic love stories go, especially with maverick director Dan Villegas (English Only Please) at its helm.

“I will never get tired of doing love stories in movies because it never ceases to amaze me how love can make everything right,” the handsome leading man mused. “Yes, there will be struggles but at the end of the day if the two of you are really meant to be together, no one can stop that. Love is definitely what makes us strong.”
