The top two networks will battle it out with their respective Father’s Day specials on the eve of the celebration with Piolo Pascual headlining ABS-CBN’s “Maalaala Mo Kaya” and GMA Network’s latest crossover talent Diether Ocampo on “Magpakailanman.”
Pascual gives life to the touching story of a man whose photo of watching his children eat in a fast food chain went viral on Facebook.
Many were moved by his selfless act but not many people know about the struggles Tatay Ryan had to go through in life. A hardworking and loving father who wants nothing but to give his family a good life, Ryan had his dreams shattered when he suffered a stroke that paralyzed half of his body and also affected his speech. Instead of being the breadwinner of the family, he became more of a burden to them, especially to his wife Rosalyn (portrayed by Isabelle Daza).
At first, Rosalyn took care of him and understood his situation. However, she eventually got fed up and left him for another man.
Joining Pascual in tonight’s true-to-life special are Lito Pimentel, Encar Benedicto, Xia Vigor, Ynna Asistio, Myel de Leon, and Maika Rivera. The episode is directed by Diosdado Lumibao and written by Akeem Del Rosario and Arah Badayos.
Meanwhile, Ocampo, in his first starring role for his new network, will lead the episode on the viral article about a breastfeeding dad.
Titled “My Breastfeeding Dad: The Anton Ramos Story” he stars in the true-to-life story with Miss World 2013 Megan Young.
As Anton, Ocampo will fall in love with Cel (Young) when they first meet, pursuing her relentlessly. Deeply in love with each other, they marry and are blessed with a beautiful child. However, a tragedy hits their family and Anton’s resilience as a husband and father is put to the test.
To fulfill his wife’s wish to breastfeed their child, he steps in and becomes the only breastfeeding father in the growing movement of breastfeeding mothers.
The episode also stars Menggie Cobarrubias, Shermaine Santiago, Faith de Silva, Dentrix Ponce, Rafa Siguion-Reyna, Dave Bornea, and Janna Trias.
Both shows will air on the prime time slot on their respective networks.
