The Lyceum of the Philippines Pirates came back strong in the pivotal period of the game to crush the Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals, 91-75, on Friday keeping their hope for a Final Four slot alive in the 90th National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) basketball tournament at The Arena in San Juan City.
Jebb Bulawan fired 20 points including five in the fourth quarter to secure the Pirates’ sixth win against eight defeats midway in the second round of the elimination phase. He completed a pair of charity that stretched the gap to 11 points, 83-72, with a little over two minutes to go.
The Sorsogon born Bulawan also posted seven rebounds and was seven-of-11 in the field goal to remain in contention for a best finish since joining the league four years ago.
Coach Bonnie Tan of Lyceum was happy with the win that fired up their enthusiasm to dominate all remaining four matches. The Pirates could sail through the next round if Jose Rizal University, Arellano University and College of Saint Benilde falter in their next matches.
With the setback, the EAC Generals are now in a tie with the San Sebastian College Stags who are also bearing a 3-11 win-loss record, at the 9th to the10th spots.
