Star Cinema has posted on its social networking sites that it is alarmed over the shared links to copies of The Achy Breaky Hearts on Facebook, while the movie is still being shown on cinemas nationwide.

In an email also sent to The Manila Times, the film outfit stated, “The unauthorized posting of the movie, whether in full or in parts, on social media is a form of stealing that is prohibited by law.

“We strongly condemn this criminal act that slowly kills the film industry. We feel for the hundreds of staff and crew who worked so hard behind the camera just to produce a quality film for the enjoyment of moviegoers. We appeal to the public to join us in our crusade against piracy.”

Asking the public to refrain from clicking and sharing the illegal link, the movie-making arm of ABS-CBN further included an email whereby concerned citizens can help them trace the source of the pirated upload (report@abs-cbn.com).

A very serious problem, which means huge losses for the entertainment industry, netizens comments unanimously urged Star Cinema to bring the matter up to newly installed President Duterte for help.
