THE 2014 motorcycle racing season had taken off at the Batangas Racing Circuit (BRC), with Aprilia Grandstar’s Dashi Watanabe winning the maiden race of the Pirelli Superbikes Championship.
The reigning champion started from pole and built up a considerable lead from Ducati rider Raniel Resuello throughout the 12-lap race to take the checkered flag. Anthony Roman, also riding for Aprilia Grandstar, took third. He was followed by Intermediate Class champion Rizaldy Canare in fourth and Master Class champion Toti Alberto in fifth.
In the FDR Underbone King Championship, John Enriquez won in the 150cc Open category. He was trailed by Herbert Lopez and John Emerson Inguito. The 115cc Open class went to Vrei Suba while the 115 Novice class was ruled by Aljon Valencia.
One of the most awaited races of the day, the Ducati Celebrity Cup, saw Rep. Ronald Singson winning over Dingdong Dantes, who came in second. The pair was followed by Bullet Jalosjos in third and Richard Gutierrez in fourth.
Round 2 of the motorcycle races were held on May 17 and 18, also at BRC.
