The airport in Butuan City was temporarily closed after the nose wheel of a Cebu Pacific plane nose wheel went off the runway, Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) said Saturday.
CAAP Deputy Director General John Andrews said the Airbus A319, which was bound for Cebu, was turning in preparation for take-off at the end of the runway when the wheel slipped off the runway’s edge.
The airline management said in a statement that “all passengers have deplaned and are currently being accommodated in the next available flight.”
At least four Cebu Pacific flights to and from Butuan were cancelled.
Cebu Pacific advised passenger booked on affected flights to rebook for free within 30 days from the original departure date or reroute to the nearest alternate airport (Cagayan de Oro or Davao), or full travel fund or refund.
The CAAP said Butuan airport’s runway will be closed until 4 p.m. Saturday.
