A top official of the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. (PLDT) said that the company is back on the “growth path” to achieve its target for its topline and bottomline.
“Overall, we’re back on the growth path for both the topline [revenues]and the bottomline [net income]. And we’re on track on achieving our year-end targets for both on the topline and bottomline. Our guidance figures, we’re on track on or guidance figures,” said Napoleon Nazareno, president and chief executive officer of PLDT.
The company attributed the second-quarter growth to its mobile, broadband and corporate data businesses.
Earlier, Manuel Pangilinan, PLDT chairman, said that the company’s first-quarter profit started good toward hitting the company’s core profit guidance for 2013 of about P38 billion, compared to its P37-billion core net income in 2012.
PLDT also said that its Fibr brand will further solidify its market dominance, and aims to close the year with around 30,000 subscribers.
“Right now we’re in 600 villages, so before the year ends, we should be a little bit over in 700 villages,” said Ariel Fermin, executive vice president and head of PLDT HOME Business.
PLDT HOME marked another milestone with Fibr since it is now offering Cignal Digital TV that allows subscribers to enjoy high-definition television at home using a dedicated Fibr connection.
