PLDT’s enterprise unit and its satellite television company Cignal TV inked a partnership on Monday to boost the latter’s content reach via internet networks.
In a statement, PLDT said the deal would allow its enterprise customers in commercial establishments,
hospitals, hotels and resorts to access Cignal TV content programs through its Internet Protocol television (IPTV) service.
“Particularly for the hotels, resorts, and the hospital segments (HRH), offering Cignal TV channels is just the starting point as we envision to put in other relevant and transformative solutions for key business ecosystems,” said Jovy Hernandez, PLDT senior vice president and head of PLDT and Smart Enterprise Groups.
Eric Alberto, PLDT and Smart chief revenue officer, said the deal would deliver programs in high definition or HD over PLDT’s fiber internet services.
According to Jane Basas, chief executive officer and president of Cignal TV, the partnership was “a logical next step in bringing together unparalleled access and quality content to as many Filipinos as possible.”
PLDT said it is now on the lookout for upcoming hotels in Metro Manila to introduce its IPTV solutions for their connectivity requirements.
The telco said earlier that its PLDT Enterprise unit continued to experience strong momentum after posting double-digit growth in the first nine months of the year. PLDT Enterprise saw revenue grow 11 percent to P25.3 billion during the period, driven mainly by PLDT’s data and technology initiatives.
