PHILIPPINE Long Distance Telephone Company (PLDT) said it is well positioned to meet an expected surge in subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) service in the country amid a rapidly growing global market for digital subscription thanks to its partnership with internet TV service provider iflix.
A recent report on Global OTT TV & Video Forecasts from Digital TV Research said that the number of homes globally with SVOD subscriptions was expected to rise by 485 percent from 20 million in 2010 to about 120 million by end-2015. By 2020, the total number is expected to reach 250 million, up over 1,000 percent from 2010.
