PLDT unit, UniTeller partner for remittances

TELECOMMUNICATIONS giant Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. (PLDT), through its unit PLDT Global Corp (PGC), has partnered with international remittance network UniTeller Financial Services to develop an online portal that would allow US-based Filipinos to send money to the Philippines at reasonable rates.

“We are relentless in our pursuit of improving the lives of our overseas Filipinos. This partnership with UniTeller empowers our fellow Filipinos in the US to conveniently and securely send money to their loved ones in the Philippines using their mobile phones,” said Eric Alberto, PLDT EVP and head of Enterprise and International and Carrier Business and also PGC chairman.

PGC is the international marketing, sales and operating arm of PLDT that reaches out to more than 10 million Filipinos overseas.

Aside from an online portal, PGC and UniTeller aim to develop a mobile application that would offer Filipinos abroad another easy option to send remittances.

“This new service will be a welcome solution for our Fil-Am market as it fits well their digital lifestyle. With this mobile remittance app, they can send money anytime and anywhere they are,” Alberto added.

According to Alex Caeg, head of PLDT’s International and Carrier Business and PGC president and CEO, “We would like to make the practice of money remittance easier, faster and more convenient for our relatives in the US who have always been there for us.”

“With this new mobile app, sending money would be as easy as texting or updating our Facebook status. It doesn’t take much time, expense and effort, unlike the conventional way that entails going to a bank or a remittance center,” Caeg explained.

He also announced a special Christmas promo which qualifies Fil-Ams to avail of the free transaction fee for money remittances to the Philippines from November 1 to December 31, 2015.

“It is an honor for us to serve the US-based Filipinos’ money remittance requirements with PLDT Global as partner,” said UniTeller president and CEO Alberto Guerra.

“As an international money transfer processing company in the US for over 20 years, we can assure our customers of our fast, secure, and convenient service.”

Fil-Ams in the US may avail of the new money remittance service by registering through the online portal at They just need to key in their bank account, credit or debit card details, type in the Philippine beneficiary, and send the money instantly.
