PNP, AFP DECLARES SOUTHERN TAGALOG PARTS INSURGENCY FREE

GOVERNMENT security forces have declared early this week that at least three provinces in the area of the Southern Tagalog region as free from the influences of the New People’s Army (NPA) rebels. With this declaration, the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Armed Forces of the Philippines has signed a joint letter directive that placing the peace and security operation in the area under the primary responsibility of the police. “Among the 63 provinces affected in varying degrees by the communist insurgency, Laguna, Batangas and Cavite are now classified under the law and order problem category and have been cleared of insurgency,” a PNP statement said on Wednesday.
