THE Philippine National Police (PNP) will go on full alert on January 12, Monday, in time for the five-day visit of Pope Francis to the Philippines, a senior police official said on Thursday.
The officer-in-charge of the PNP, Deputy Director General Leonardo Espina said in a radio interview that raising their alert level to full alert will allow them to go full blast with their preparations for the papal visit.
Under full alert, all police personnel are to be at their posts at any given time.
The PNP has been in the thick of security preparations for Pope Francis’ visit,January 15 to 19.
The raising of police alert-level came a day after Interior Secretary Manuel Roxas 2nd said security preparations for the papal visit need to be fine-tuned.
