THE Philippine National Police (PNP) will conduct security assessment when the campaign period for local candidates in upcoming national and local elections starts next week as part of its continuing campaign for peaceful and orderly polls.
PNP chief, Director Gen. Ricardo Marquez has been going around the country in the past weeks to check on the security preparations of various police units for the coming synchronized national and local election on May 9, 2016.
“I will check if there are other provinces to be added in the list of Election Areas of Concern (EAC) for the coming synchronized national and local elections,” Marquez told reporters.
Initially included in the list of EACs for the May polls are the provinces of Pangasinan, Masbate, Western Samar, Negros Oriental, Lanao del Sur and Maguindanao.
Meanwhile, two policemen – Chief Insp. Aldrin Rosales and SPO1 Amado Albiola – were reportedly wounded in a series of explosions in at least six towns in the island province of Masbate last Tuesday, believed to be handiwork of New People’s Army (NPA) rebels.
Reports reaching the PNP national operations center in Camp Crame on Wednesday said that a total of 11 bomb explosions rocked the politically tense province of Masbate Tuesday morning.
