PHILIPPINE National Police (PNP) Chief Ricardo Marquez on Monday confirmed reports of a shake up in the police force because of the retirement of some police officials this year, particularly the directors of the Southern Tagalog Regional and Davao Regional police offices.
The two police officials who will retire in the next few months are Chief Supt. Richard Albano, director of the Southern Tagalog Regional Police Office, and Chief Supt. Wendy Rosario, director for the Davao Regional Police Office.
Marquez however did not say who will replace the retiring police officials.
“We will ask that they adjust their retirement so that police officials who will take over their positions will be able to adjust in their new assignment, especially that it’s election season,” he told reporters.
The PNP chief said that filling up the expected vacancies will not be affected by the ban on the promotion and reassignment of police officials during the election period that started on January 10, 2016.
