THE Philippine National Police (PNP)-Highway Patrol Group (HPG) on Monday said they are ready to assist the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) to handle complaints of stoning incidents reported by several bus companies with units plying Central and Northern Luzon.
PNP-HPG Director, Chief Supt. Arnold Gunnacao said they are just waiting for the request from the LTFRB and they will immediately consult with Director Gen. Ricardo Marquez.
“This is part of our mandate with regards to public safety,” Gunnacao said.
He added that they have enough personnel in the regional level who could assist the LTFRB, aside from the local police who are ready to help as they are pushing for a multi-agency approach in resolving this problem.
It was reported that bus stoning incidents in the provinces increase by 20 to 30 percent during summer season.
LTFRB data in 2015 showed that Pangasinan province recorded highest number of stoning incidents with 148, while Cagayan has 25 and Nueva Ecija with 23 incidents.
