THE Philippine National Police (PNP) said Friday it has recorded 17 incidents of firecracker injuries and illegal firing of guns from December 16 to 25.
PNP spokesperson, Chief Supt. Wilben Mayor said in a text message that most of the incident under “Ligtas Paskuhan 2014” were firecracker-related.
There were only two reports of illegal discharge of weapons and one of stray bullet.
An update released by PNP national operations center said four persons were arrested and four firearms were confiscated during the period.
Police in the Ilocos Region recorded six incidents of illegal discharge of firearms and one person injured by a firecracker blast.
In Central Luzon 420 pieces and 206 reams of illegal firecrackers were seized.
In Eastern Visayas, police reported one stray bullet incident, but none was hit or hurt.
One person was reportedly injured due to illegal discharge of firearm in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM).
In Metro Manila, there were three reported firecracker-related incidents.
Aviation police meanwhile warned airline passengers there is an ongoing ban on carrying firecrackers and other pyrotechnic materials.
The Aviation Security Unit (ASU) said violators face a P30,000 fine or imprisonment of not more than a year.
ASU Chief Supt. Christopher Laxa reminded passengers they cannot bring with them firecrackers and other pyrotechnics such as “Crying Bading,” “Super Lolo,” “Atomic Big Triangulo.”
