Camp Vicente Lim, Laguna: A Philippine National Police (PNP) officer in Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon) seen in the same hotel where staff members and supporters of Liberal Party standard-bearer Manuel Roxas were meeting downplayed his presence there, insisting he was in the hotel for “a cup of coffee.”
Reports over the weekend said several police directors (generals) on active duty, namely Chief of the Intelligence Director Generoso Cerbo Jr.; Chief Supt. Renier Idio, Cagayan Valley regional director; Chief Supt. Bernardo Diaz, Western Visayas regional director; and CALABARZON Deputy Regional Director for Administration, Chief Supt. Ronaldo Santos were spotted last Saturday, April 2 at Novotel Manila at Araneta Center in Cubao, Quezon City.
The spotted officers were all 1984 graduates of the Philippine Military Academy Class 1984 (Maharlika), of which Roxas is an “adopted member.”
On the same day that the four met in Novotel, supporters and staff members of the Roxas campaign also met in the same hotel, but on a different floor.
“I was just invited over a cup of coffee. In fact, I was in golf attire and my wife was with me at that time,” Santos said.
“There was nothing political in our discussion,” Santos added.
The Saturday meeting was nothing more than a normal gathering of PMA mistahs (classmates), he added.
