THE Philippine National Police (PNP) re-launches over the weekend a nationwide program that was meant to ensure the physical fitness of its estimated 150,000 police personnel across the country.
PNP Directorate for Police Community and Relations (DPCR) chief, Director Lina Sarmiento said that police program “Hataw Na” was re-launched simultaneously in all of their field offices and police camps.
The police official said revitalized physical fitness and sports development program will include 30-minutes of Zumba, a three-kilometer walk, a five kilometer fun-run and 10 kilometers of bicycling.
These will be simultaneously carried out in all police offices and camps starting from regional offices, national support units and down to the municipal police stations.
The police official said that healthy and physical fit police personnel will be able to effectively serve the public and maintain peace and order and security of the community.
“We should always be prepared and fit to run after criminals and violators of the law. Also, being in optimum health enables us to be ready to defend ourselves and our families from any danger that could come our way,” Sarmiento said. ANTHONY VARGAS
