The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Friday said it has a detention cell at its headquarters that are always ready to take in high-profile detainees.
PNP information office head, Chief Supt. Reuben Theodore Sindac, said the PNP Custodial Center in Camp Crame in Quezon City is ready to accommodate these people in case the court issues an order.
“Just in case there is a court order that we take in high-profile detainees, the detention facility is there. It has always been there,” according to Sindac.
The PNP official said they are not looking at certain personalities but said they will comply once the court issues an order to detain some personalities at the custodial center.
“It depends on the order of the court. There is no particular personality we are referring to.
We are fixing and cleaning the detention cell just in case there are developments or [there is a]court order,” Sindac added.
Speculation rose that senators implicated in the P10-billion pork barrel scam could be detained at the custodial center once the Sandiganbayan issues a warrant of arrest for senators implicated in the pork barrel scam.
The center can accommodate up to 80 individuals and in the past served as detention center for coup plotters.
