THE Philippine National Police (PNP) vowed on Monday to continue maintaining its vigilance for the coming village polls as the number of persons arrested for violation of the election gun-ban surges high. PNP chief Director General Alan Purisima issued a statement on Monday assuring their continued vigilance even police noted a surge of “violence” incident the village elections draws nearer. “The PNP assures that it will remain vigilant in its law enforcement and security operations to ensure safe and fair elections,” Purisima said. His spokesman, Sr. Supt. Wilben Mayor said the PNP together with the Armed Forces, Commission on Elections and other law enforcement agencies are enforcing a nationwide gun-ban.
