THE Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) will form a national women’s volleyball team to compete in the Southeast Asian Zonal Qualification Tournament in Vietnam on July 14 to 16.

POC First Vice President Jose Romasanta said that the purpose of the initiative is to keep the Philippines’ good standing with the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC). Romasanta explained that AVC Vice President Shanrit Wongprasert of Thailand requested the POC to form a team after the Philippine Volleyball Federation (PVF) headed by Gener Dungo did not make a commitment to send a team to the Vietnam meet.
