Poe camp confident of favorable SC ruling

The camp of Senator Grace Poe expressed confidence that the Supreme Court will decide in favor of the senator after it has studied the evidence to be presented by her lawyers.

Valenzuela Mayor Rex Gatchalian thanked the High Court for the issuance of a temporary restraining order that effectively stopped the Commission on Elections from removing Poe’s name from the list of presidential candidates in next year’s elections.

“Similar to what we pointed out before, the SC clearly saw the grave abuse of authority committed by Comelec. This move prevents further damage to our democracy. We are confident that in the coming days as the legal points are threshed out, the SC will see the merits of our position that Sen. Poe is a natural born Filipino and has met the required residency pre-requisite,” Gatchalian said in a statement.

  1. I expect the high court to go in favor with Senator Poe. It is what’s supposed to be done to protect the less privileged– those thousands or millions of children like senator poe who are abandoned in the streets or somewhere else. Denying them their right to serve the nation is just inhumane, and is an unconstitutionary act.
