ASIDE from constructing new railway systems and rehabilitation of existing ones, the tandem of Senators Grace Poe and Francis Escudero will resolve the traffic problem by bringing back the roads to vehicles and the sidewalks to pedestrians.
Escudero said a Poe administration will remove all kinds of obstructions on roads and sidewalks.
He said infrastructure projects like new train systems and construction of new roads will ease traffic congestion even if these take time to implement.
“By simply clearing our roads and sidewalks of all types of obstructions we effectively ease traffic flow along major thoroughfares,” Escudero said at the vice presidential debate Sunday.
He said the Poe- Escudero tandem will install competent and effective individuals who will make things work.
“All plans have been laid out but nothing has been implemented because of the problems on the bidding and incompetence,” he added.
The six vice presidential candidates blamed the Aquino government for its failure to come up with solutions to the traffic problem.
Sen. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos said the volume of cars plying the major highways should be decreased but only after a reliable, fast, and cheaper public transport is in place.
Escudero lamented the fact that an international airport in Daraga town, Albay province has yet to be funded.
