MALOLOS CITY, Bulacan: Independent presidential candidate Sen. Grace Poe and her running mate Senator Francis “Chiz” Escudero vowed to continue the good projects of the Aquino administration if they get elected in 2016.
The national government’s good projects must continue and not be derailed by present political situation, Poe said during a press conference in Malolos City.
“But these projects must not even have a scintilla of corruption. We will pursue what is best for our country and people and will not hinder good development programs of the present administration if we will be elected in the May 2016 polls,” Poe said.
She said that long term development projects should be continued by whoever will be chosen as the next leaders of the Philippines.
She and Escudero both shared the opinion that the sanctity of the contract should be observed. The two senators said the projects that should be pushed through, include the Northrail project, North Luzon Railways Corporation under the China National Machinery and Engineering Group Construction.
Escudero said that the government has already paid a huge penalty for the Northrail project that aims to connect Metro Manila to the Clark’s Special Economic Zone, which has its own international airport.
The Poe-Escudero tandem yesterday visited the historical province of Bulacan with senatorial candidates Rep. Sammy Pagdilao, actor-TV host Edu Manzano, Susan Ople, Manila vice mayor Isko Moreno, Rep. Roman Romulo and Rep. Neri Colmenares.
