• Police collar Abu Sayyaf man in 2001 kidnappings


    ZAMBOANGA CITY: A notorious Abu Sayyaf member who has been in hiding for over a decade for his alleged involvement in kidnap for ransom and murders has been arrested by the police in Basilan over the weekend.

    Criminal Investigation and Detection Group Director Benja-min Magalong said the suspect Esmael Kawa alias Abu Esmael was involved in the kidnapping of 15 workers of the Golden Harvest Plantation in Lantawan town in 2001,during which most of the hostages were brutally killed.
