Police collar taxi driver in chemical spray attack


AUTHORITIES on Thursday arrested a taxi driver who robbed his passengers using a compound chemical element.

Joint efforts of Pasig City Police Station and Barangay Security Force of Mangahan, Pasig City arrested the suspect who uses chemical spray to prey on his passengers.

The suspect identified as Dominador Obsenarez, 38, a resident of Tupaz Subdivision, Guitnang Bayan I, San Mateo, Rizal province robbed his passenger on Thursday evening along Amang Rodriguez Avenue corner East Bank Road, Barangay Mangahan, Pasig City.

PO3 Melvin Mendoza, Pasig City police investigator, said victim Micah Crystel Sual, 18, student, of Block 1, Lot 16 Aduana Metropolis, Barangay Sta. Lucia, Pasig City was in a Tricon taxi cab (TWJ-743) driven by the suspect, when she suddenly smelled suspicious odor in the cab’s air condition vent. After several minutes, she felt dizzy and numbness in her body.”

Investigation also revealed that Sual tried to open the passenger door and asked the driver to pull over, but the driver grabbed her and prevented her from escaping.

However, elements of Baran-gay Security Force Mangahan saw the incident and imme-diately rushed to the scene to arrest the suspect. The lawmen confiscated from the vehicle two pieces of face towels and a bottle of liquid.

Obsenares was brought to Pasig City Police Station and booked for attempted robbery while the unknown chemical compound was brought to Eastern Police District Crime Laboratory.
