Police deliver baby in bus

TWO police nurses on Friday assisted in the emergency delivery of a baby by a young mother while on a crowded passenger bus in Tarlac.

Police nurses, Inspectors Mavi-dette Ongjunco and Arnel Cera helped Mary Rose Palisoc give birth to a baby boy at around 11:55 a.m. Friday.

They were aboard a Five Star (95408) bound for Bolinao, Pangasinan from Manila when Palisoc began having labor pains.

The two police nurses went to her rescue, asked for clean towels from other passengers and went about the tasks for the young mother to give birth. This, as the bus was rushing at high speed to get to the nearest hospital.

Both police nurses were undergoing a five-month field-training program at the Camiling Municipal Police Station.

They got on the bus in Tarlac City en route to Camiling after attending a blood letting drive.

The young mother and her child were later turned over to doctors at the Gilberto O. Teodoro Memorial Hospital in Malacampa, Camiling, Tarlac.
