POLICE Forces have killed the notorious leader of a kidnap for ransom group operating in western Mindanao during an operation on Thursday at a beach resort in a remote village in Zamboanga del Norte, belated police reports said over the weekend. Philippine National Police (PNP) spokesman, Senior Supt. Wilben Mayor, identified the slain KFR gang leader as Jaojim Salam. Mayor said Salam, the second most wanted man in the region, was killed after he opted to fight it out with combined police and military forces that were sent to arrest him on Thursday at a beach resort in Brgy. San Roque, Gutalac, Zamboanga del Norte. Salam reportedly has standing warrants of arrest issued by Judge Reuben Maraon of Branches 9 and 27 of the Siocon Regional Trial Court for ten counts of murder and three counts of frustrated murder. Troops recover two M14 Winchester rifles with 13 magazines and assorted ammunition. Salam’s body was taken to the Gutalac Municipal Police station for proper disposition.
