• Police nab another ASG man in priest’s abduction


    ANOTHER notorious member of the Al-Qaeda linked Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) and a drug personality were arrested on Sunday by operatives of the PNP Criminal and Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) during separate police operation in Zamboanga del Norte and Bataan.

    CIDG Chief, Director Victor Deona quoting reports from the field identified the two arrested suspects as Abner Mulok alias ‘Kumander Red Eye’ of the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) and Ronel Cobocob alias Kulot.

    Deona said that Kumander Red Eye was nabbed by combine operatives of the CIDG, Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and Zamboanga Del Norte Provincial Police Office that swooped down at around 1 a.m. on Monday at his safehouse in Purok 6, Barangay Kalintana in Naga town in Zamboanga del Norte.

    Mulok has a standing warrant of arrest for kidnapping for his alleged involvement in the kidnapping of former Italian Priest Rolando Del Torchio on October 7, 2015 in Dipolog City.

    Similarly, Cobocob was arrested by joint operatives of CIDG Bataan and Limay Municipal Police Station (MPS) in a buy bust operation on Sunday in Barangay Alangan in Limay town, Bataan.

    Seized from Cobocob were six sachets of shabu, a .38 caliber revolver and several rounds of ammunitions.

    Deona said Cobocob was listed as one of the drug personalities in Limay and now facing charges for violations of RA 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act) and RA 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Law).
