• Police nabs two Chinese and a Filipino for selling fake Panasonic products in Manila


    OPERATIVES of the Philippine National Police (PNP) Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) arrested two Chinese nationals and a Filipino for selling counterfeit electronic products in downtown Manila area late Wednesday.

    Reports reaching the PNP National Operations Center in Camp Crame identified the arrested Chinese nationals as Wang Li Li and Steven Chan while their Filipino cohort was identified as Efren Reyes.

    The three were arrested after operatives of CIDG- Anti Fraud Commercial Crime Division raided three stalls inside the 168 Mall in Divisoria, Manila on Wednesday evening.

    Senior Supt. Juanito Enguerra, The CIDG-AFCCD chief, said that the raid on the stalls was covered by a search warrant issued by the court for violation of RA 8293 otherwise known as the Trademark Infringement Act.

    The police official, quoting reports, said that 178 pieces of counterfeited Panasonic TV remote controls; 126 telephones and 640 pieces plate/panels were seized from the suspects.

    Other seized counterfeited Panasonic electronic products were 984 pieces of switches; 586 pieces of outlets and 110 pieces of sockets/plugs.

    The suspects are now in the custody of the CIDG-AFCCD office in Camp Crame for proper disposition while charges are being readied against them, the police official said in the reports. Anthony Vargas
